Tdap Requirement

April 1, 2013

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), Bureau of Immunization, has completed the administrative rules process to require tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine for students enrolling in 7th grade. The administrative rule change was effective January 16, 2013 and will be implemented at the beginning of the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.

Boone County Public Health will hold a Tdap Clinic for 6th graders at the Ogden Middle School on April 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. and at United Community School on May 1st from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Home Care Services of Boone County Hospital will hold a Walk-in Clinic for 6th graders and older children who need the Tdap on May 15th from 3 to 7 p.m. If you have questions about the clinics, call Public Health at 432-1127 or (800) 395-9737 and ask for Colleen Farley or Katie Hagan.
